An interactive multi media product by D&S
ODYSSEY TODAY views the present-day manifold forms of “being on the move“, in a time which is characterized equally by great refugee movements and tourist currents, as by the international transfer of goods and the virtual journeys of the “New Nomad Generation“, whose home is the Internet.
ODYSSEY TODAY is a virtual trip through artistic interpretations of the theme, which are assembled together in an imaginary “Travel Art Archive“.
ODYSSEY TODAY centres its theme - through the decision made by every user of the CD-ROM when taking on an identity (Tourist, Migrant, Explorer, Pilgrim, Refugee, Politician, etc) - on the most diverse confrontations with “world“, at a time which is characterized by the collision of these identities. The CD-ROM therefore deals at the same time with the fictive identities of users in the virtual “Global Village“.
ODYSSEY TODAY creates links to home-pages thematically-specified institutions (UNHCR, Integrationshaus Wien etc.) and to other art projects in the internet (Karamustafa Import.Export, Money/Nations, Siberian Deal etc.)
ODYSSEY TODAY, through its integrated games, offers the possibility of an interactive dialogue with the theme, all errors and misunderstandings on the journey through digital space, included.
ODYSSEY TODAY - a multimedia product by D&S - is based on the long-term art project “Travel Art“, by “Der Blaue Kompressor Floating & Stomping Company“.
