First stage of the long-term art project, Luftbad / Vienna.
In the widest sense of the word TRAVEL ART can be understood as the creative confrontation with the unknown. In this sense the word TRAVELLING is a different term for the process of life and TRAVEL ART can be understood as one’s attitude towards life. Our confrontation with the unknown start with the instant we are born and ends in our final hour. Every living creature is in motion and is on a journey from where it’s been to where it’s going. At no point in time have there ever been more confrontations between people of different origins and culture than today. This is our joint chance. Hospitability is a prerequisite for mutual understanding and therefore the basis for global cohabitation of mankind without nationalisms. Traveling requires guts to leave the known behind, traveling means crossing borders, to put oneself in danger. Traveling means entering, opening up to the unknown. Traveling doesn’t necessarily mean tourism and it doesn’t mean having to leave the home country. Art can act as mediator between cultures and contribute to global understanding.
TRAVEL ART as a creative confrontation with the unknown comprises artistic approaches in the context of global understanding.
TRAVEL ART ARCHIVE is a forum for people working creatively in this direction and gives their and our works publicity.
TRAVEL ART collects and presents projects, activities, contributions from all artistic fields (visual arts, music, literature, film, etc.) as well as peripheral artistic-scientific fields (sociology, ethnology, geology etc.) which also topically deal with TRAVELLING.
TRAVEL ART ARCHIVE is basically a card index, which holds the works created in context with TRAVELLING. This card index, the archives, their configuration as well as all activities comprised within are understood as a usable, walkable and liveable work of art.
TRAVEL ART ARCHIVE is open to the public and at the same time provides a forum for the continual exchange of thoughts and ideas, mutual incitement and public presentation. The available works of art are cataloged in the card index and may be viewed as of their affiliation with the project.
Artists from the group THE BLUE COMPRESSOR - Floating & Stomping Company present their own works in exhibitions, film screenings, lectures and actions. Selected works from the archive will be presented in a final exhibition.
