The Diary 1986 - 1989
Room and video installation with readings, 3rd of April 1991 until 17th of April, 1991, echoraum Vienna.

Excerpt from the project call for tender from 1986:

Diary
Beginning:
with receipt of the paper
End:
duration unlimited

Paper, format:
Every participant receives uniform paper in a uniform format = diary format (no binding/cutting margin; paper size = image size).  Changing the format through sticking the sheets together is not permitted.

Technique:
Every technique is permitted insofar as it doesn’t contradict the form and handling of a diary (common sense). The basis of an entry is always the given paper.

How to keep the diary:

Every entry starts with the location and the date (portrait format, top right). The entries should be spontaneous (no storing, no revision; no elaborate technical procedures - usage of the materials available at the time of diary entry; later revision is not impossible, as long as the meaning of the entry isn’t altered and the freshness isn’t destroyed).
Avoid collections of simple (unprocessed) findings and documentary pieces such as tickets, postcards, maps, packaging material etc.!
Common sense!
The paper may be used on both sides, given personal coloring, general meaning.

Basically: the criteria
quality, intensity, authenticity!
